　　[[1990年]]03月17日，台灣棒球運動邁入新紀元，[[中華職棒]]元年的第一個球季於當天下午二時在[[台北市立棒球場]]揭幕，首日兩場比賽下午二時卅分由[[統一獅隊]]對[[兄弟象隊]]，晚間七時由[[三商虎隊]]對[[味全龍隊]]。結果獅隊擊敗象隊獲得台灣職棒史上第一勝，統一獅投手[[杜福明]]成為台灣職棒史上第一位勝投的投手；另一場比賽[[三商虎隊]]擊敗[[味全龍隊]]，投手[[涂鴻欽]]成為第一位寫下[[完封]]勝的投手。

　　當日下午，[[統一獅隊]]在[[台灣棒球史]]上第一場[[職棒]]比賽中，以四比三擊敗[[兄弟象隊]]，是贏得第一場職棒賽勝利的球隊。該場比賽先攻的[[統一獅隊]]，在首局上半乘[[兄弟象隊]]先發投手[[張永昌]]不穩之際，於一壘有人的情況下，三棒[[宋榮泰]]安打，四棒洋將[[羅曼]]二壘安打，[[鄭百勝]]攻得我國[[職棒]]史上第一分，六棒[[汪俊良]]安打，[[宋榮泰]]又添一分。二局下，[[兄弟象隊]]五棒[[李居明]]、六棒[[江仲豪]]相繼安打，八棒洋將[[努那]]游擊區滾地球，統一獅隊欲雙殺不成，[[李居明]]扳回一分。四局上，統一獅隊五棒洋將[[瑞克]]安打，六棒[[汪俊良]]令人意外的轟出中職首支全壘打，一舉獲得兩分，以四比一領先。八局下，[[兄弟象隊]][[王光輝]]因對方游擊手失誤上壘，三棒[[洪一中]]三壘安打，[[王光輝]]得分，[[洪一中]]乘對方救援投手洋將[[瑞奇]]暴投，得到第三分。[[統一獅隊]]有九支安打，[[兄弟象隊]]七支；[[統一獅隊]]以[[杜福明]]及[[瑞奇]]為投手，三振對方兩次，[[兄弟象隊]]投手[[張永昌]]、[[黃廣琪]]三振對方五次。
