　　[[2003年]]01月13日中華職棒聯盟與[[台灣大聯盟]]合併為中華職業棒球大聯盟；同年3月1日，合併後的中華職棒大聯盟開幕戰登場，由[[中信鯨隊]]出戰[[兄弟象隊]]，台灣職棒界自[[1997年]]至[[2002年]]持續六年之久的兩聯盟時代正式走入歷史，另一個嶄新的時代則由此揭開序幕。
==鯨象之戰==
===比賽概況===
　　這是兩聯盟合併後的第一場比賽，兩隊都派出了外籍投手先發。兄弟象隊挾著連霸的氣勢，在三局下半就先靠著[[李志傑(1977)|李志傑]]的兩分打點全壘打先馳得點，但中信鯨隊也不是省油的燈，分別在第六局及第八局攻下分數，硬是把比賽拉入延長加賽，最後在第十一局兩出局後由[[許誌為]]打下超前分結束比賽。<br>　　這場比賽雙方的先發投手都表現不錯，[[郝男多G.G|郝男多]]主投八局只掉兩分，[[中込伸]]更是投了十局用掉134球，也是只掉兩分。而後援投手方面，象隊[[蕭任汶]]只投一局拿到勝利，而鯨隊的老將[[郭李建夫]]雖然是前一年的救援王，但這場則是出師不利吞下敗戰。
